Booking Policies

Check-In and Check-Out

Check in is at 4pm on the day of arrival. Check out is at 10am on the day of departure.

If you arrive earlier than 4pm, you are welcome to leave your car at Scale Hill if you would like to walk down to our nearby Lake, Crummock Water. Check-out is at 10am on the day of departure.

Late Check-Out

You may extend your stay to 1pm, subject to availability. This is charged at £50 per stay. You can add this option when booking online or do let us know so we can organise this.

Breakfast

If you are booked in to stay in the Coaching Inn, in our Ensuite Bedrooms, Breakfast is included in your stay. If you are staying in the Cottages and would like to have Breakfast, please be in touch to discuss with us, as this is subject to availability.

Children

Children and infants are welcome at Scale Hill. Children aged up to 15 years may share a room with parents in selected room categories (Barty’s, Lanthwaite or Brackenthwaite) at a supplement of £45 per child per night. Children over 15 years are required to take a separate bedroom at the full adult rate or be included in the total allowance for each Cottage (2 or 4 persons).We do not provide airbeds or camp beds, so we ask that you bring your own air bed or shakedown in this instance. Extra bed linen and towels can be provided. Please let us know when placing your booking.

Infants, aged up to 1 years old are not charged. We do not provide cots or baby linen, so we do advise you to bring your own, if necessary. We have high-chairs that can be used. If you would like to borrow one for your stay, please let us know before your arrival so we can help organise this.

Dogs

We welcome well behaved, small to medium sized dogs in 3 of our cottages – Lanthwaite, Howe House and Barty’s for an additional charge of £15 per night. If you bring your dog and are not booked in to Lanthwaite, Howe House and Barty’s we will not be able to accommodate your booking. We do ask that dogs are clean when they enter the accommodation (we have lots of freshly laundered dog towels for wet dogs in our Drying Room in the Annexe). Please bring your own dog bed or cage. We ask that dogs are not left in the accommodation on their own. Any damage to the property will be chargeable. We do not allow dogs in the bedrooms in the Coaching Inn. Payment

A 30% deposit is required to confirm any booking, with the final balance due 6 weeks prior to arrival in all instances. For bookings where the arrival date is within 6 weeks of booking, the full balance is required to confirm the booking. Stays of one night only require payment in full at the time of booking. 

Full cancellations to bookings can be made up to six weeks prior to your stay date. We understand that sometimes circumstances arise which mean you are not able to visit us as planned. In these instances, we may transfer any monies paid to a gift voucher or a new date, subject to availability. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to make any changes to your booking.

While we regret any circumstances that may lead to a guest having to make changes or cancel their reservation with us, responsibility falls to the guest to cancel before the payment deadline and we strongly recommend our guests take out holiday insurance to cover them, in these circumstances.  Please see our Terms and Conditions.
