Dog Friendly

The Lake District is a wonderful place to enjoy a break with your four-legged friend, which is why we have three dog-friendly cottages here at Scale Hill. With walks straight from the door, down through Lanthwaite Wood to the shores of Crummock Water, as well as the surrounding North-Western Fells to explore, Scale Hill is the perfect base for discovering this quieter corner of the Lake District.

Simply book one of our dog-friendly cottages, Lanthwaite, Barty’s or Howe House, and bring your dog’s bed and bowl with you. We provide freshly laundered, fluffy dog towels for muddy paws after a day out walking, and there’ll also be a few tasty treats from Lily’s Kitchen waiting for them when they arrive.

Dog House Rules

In order to provide a welcoming and comfortable environment for all of our guests, we have put together some house rules that we ask all dog-owners to follow during their stay with us:

  • Please note that all bookings with dogs incur an additional charge of £15 per night.

  • We welcome one dog in Lanthwaite, Howe House and Barty’s Cottages. If you have two dogs and would like to bring both, please get in touch with us at bookings@scalehillloweswater.co.uk before booking. We may be able to make an exception, depending on the circumstances and the suitability of the accommodation. Please note that management reserve the right to refuse additional dogs, and any exception must be agreed with us in advance.

  • If you bring your dog and are not booked in to dog friendly accommodation we may not be able to accommodate your booking.

  • Please be considerate of other guests if you have your dog in the Garden.

  • Please always pick up any waste and dispose of it in the appropriate bins.

  • We do ask that dogs are clean when they enter the accommodation (we have lots of freshly laundered dog towels for wet dogs in our Drying Room in the Annexe). Please bring your own dog bed or cage.

  • Dogs are strictly not to be left in the accommodation on their own.

  • If you are attending a Wedding or Event in our locality, we ask that you do not leave the Dog alone in the cottage. Please arrange to take your dog with you, or alternatively, you can arrange dog walking during the daytime when you are occupied with a local company such as Lakeland Dog Walker.

  • Any damage caused to the property or furniture will be chargeable. Please see our Terms and Conditions.

  • We do not allow dogs to stay in the Coaching Inn so if you want to bring your dog, please choose one of our Dog friendly cottages when booking.
